The Popular Show Season Four Unveils the Fighters Table

From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a colorful mix of characters, and a gripping narrative showcasing divine entities, fiends, and sinister influences expanding in influence within Dol-Makjar.

Note: Key plot points for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 follow below.

The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced

The latest chapter concluded with a major cliffhanger and presented the initial group of characters who will branch out from the central cast to embark on their own adventure, separate from the remaining groups.

The Soldiers table includes the determined fighter (played by Travis), Thimble (the talented performer), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).

Why Split the Party?

Considering an extensive roster, it was evident from the start that keeping everyone at one table would be unfeasible.

This explains, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Overture, weaving together the characters’ stories before dividing into three smaller tables: Fighters, Planners, and Explorers.

The Nature of the Combat Party

According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for participants who prefer a classically intense fight-heavy gameplay experience where diplomatic options are few and far between.

Upon first impression, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might appear unsuited, but the events of episode 3 demonstrate why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.

Motivations for Departure

To begin with, the team has a clear idea where to proceed after a brutal first encounter with the enemy group.

A former ally of the deceased character—whose death initiated the narrative’s action—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, entering Thjazi’s hideout, striking Thimble, and stealing all the enchanted items to dispose of.

The antagonist then cleared his obligations and ran away to a secure base in the remote area, beyond the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.

Personal Motivations

Secondly, each character has a specific drive to exit Dol-Makjar:

  • The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, seeks vengeance.
  • The knowledgeable figure knows the region and warns that it is a nasty environment.
  • Tyranny and Wicander, having resisted his relatives’ demands to execute Teor and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
  • Yet, their status as important members in the powerful family could assist the party access areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Furthermore, The grateful character swore a life debt to The savior for his rescue and will now accompany him everywhere.

Fugitives

Finally, all of them are hunted by the rulers that govern the city for a multiple motives, making remaining behind too risky:

  • The rogue and The character are known criminals.
  • The strong figure and The healer turned against the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
  • The target is wanted dead by the family.

This results in them few options but to travel to Timmony in pursuit of the antagonist.

What’s Next?

According to the recent installment’s Cooldown, we find out that the combat party won’t be around next week, leaving the rest of the players to round up the Explorers and Planners groups.

Audiences can look forward to learning which adventurers will be assigned to which table in the season’s last Overture episode, released on the upcoming Thursday.
